Toddlers and Tiaras!

Jon Paul and I are in Tampa Florida this weekend at the “Little Miss Glitz” pageant! I’ve lost count of how many girls he has done hair & makeup for and I’m all ready to start shooting some ‘off stage’ shots as soon as the competition is over. Jon Paul is getting a TON of coverage and I’m sure he’ll be in the spotlight for this episode! I think it’s safe to say I now work with a “Celebrity” hair & makeup artist Me, I’m ducking from the cameras, but then again photographers don’t really get much attention at these events… I’m fine with that ’cause I’d much rather be behind the lens anyway LOL… I’m told today’s pageant will be on this coming January! Nana made my hat for my two week baby portraits!

Well, wouldn’t you just know that I would get in the mood to crochet when my third grandbaby arrived. YES, I made this hat along with a few others My daughter said I could use this one for other other babies, but that I have to save it for Maddie! I’m working on some other hats for the studio that I just know everyone will LOVE. I am so blessed to work with so many little angels and I’ve even more blessed to finally have a grandaughter!

Here’s a quick video we put together or our new granddaughter MADALYNN GRACE EDWARDS! She was born yesterday and weighed 6 pounds 8 oz… We are so very blessed! Madalynn is my daughter Vanessa’s first baby and she was so happy to have Ashley Motzenbecker from Wiregrass Doula Services by her side to help her through her delivery. Thank you Ashley for all your patience, soothing and emotional support. I would love to shoot more BABY STORIES with you

I just love an “enchanted” scene! It’s one of my alltime favorites. I know I haven’t blogged in a little while, so I thought I’d share one of this little enchanting “Earth Angel” taking a break during her enchanted photo session. ENJOY!

Celebrate LIFE!!!

What do average american families doing during a recession? They CELEBRATE LIFE and find more ways than ever to make an impression on the world around them! I pondered the many ways the economy would affect our business and I even socked away some extra funds to help us find our way through the unexpected. What I didn’t expect was the endurance of the American Family Portrait and how much more important it would become during times of struggle. I mean, the average family is spending less time going out to the movies and more time at home with their family and perhaps many of them are finding this to be a nice change! My take on all this is that as more time is being spent at home and more value is being placed on the overall home environment. OK, I admit it, I believe more families are having their PORTRAITS taken in a bad economy! Perhaps it’s as simple as moms and dads wanting to express their love of family on the walls of their homes or maybe it’s something much deeper. Maybe it’s the endurance of the american dream and the continuing desire to accomplish something. Maybe having a loving family IS the ultimate ACCOMPLISHMENT and more americans are appreciating the little things they are blessed with. What if every American Family who had all those snapshots safely tucked away in their computer suddenly realized that they wanted their family on the WALL and not in a BOX??? It is my personal opinion that the wall WILL WIN!!!

Jon Paul’s new business card…

Jon Paul is wacky, totally crazy, full of life and down right nutty at times! Needless to say, we make a fierce team! He’s one of the BEST I’ve ever worked with in that he NEVER fails to think outside of the box artistically. Let’s just say that he’s a HOOT to work with!!! Jon Paul isn’t the only freelance hair & makeup artist we work with here at Studio EnVogue, but he has certainly earned top billing lately with all those photogenic winners we have out there. I’m so pleased to announce that Jon Paul has decided to work exclusively with us!

By the way, did I mention that I went to cosmetology school years ago? It gave me a healthy appreciation of exactly what it takes to create the perfect image. I guess you could say that, now a days, I’m just the artistic director of this show, but I do occasionally break out my kit and do something really hip! That’s one reason I’ve always referred to what I do as “photographic art” because I don’t just shoot the images, I do whatever it takes to push them over the top One thing is for certain, Studio EnVogue is THE STUDIO in the Wiregrass for TRUE GLITZ and REAL GLAMOUR!

State print competition awards!

Hello again! Things have been a bit hectic around here the past few weeks and needless to say I’ve been on the road a bit. I just returned from Huntsville where I participated in this year’s Mississippi / Alabama State print competition. The good news is that I placed very well, winning 1st Place for a Character Study as well as Honors Court and the Judges choice awards! If you’re a regular visitor to my website, then you’ve probably seen the image of the baby in the leopard chair. This one as well as one of my boudoir portraits were my biggest winners. I also had an amazing senior portrait hang in this year’s print exhibition in Huntsville. Look for my winning images to be properly marked on my website within the coming week!

With that said, I’m trying desparately to get my act together after being away at our State conference. So, PLEASE be patient with me as I try to get back with everyone who emailed or left a phone message for me while I was in Huntsville. If you don’t think you can wait, then feel free to give me a call back as I should be in the studio all day tomorrow

Same Day Portrait Viewing!

We’re pleased to announce that Studio EnVogue is now offering SAME DAY VIEWING for STUDIO SESSIONS. We can’t do this for expanded sessions such as senior portraits or bridals, but we can do it for standard sessions including most family shoots! Simply let us know at the time of your shoot that you would like to see your portraits right away and we will process them for you in about 15 minutes to a half hour. We will only offer same day viewing for those who have ALL DECISION MAKERS present at the time of the viewing. We ask that you consider this when requesting same day viewing.
