What fun we had creating these images for Miss Sarah Catherine Purvis! We started off with a few traditional shots and ended up capturing that “next TOP MODEL” look I so love to bring out in the young women I work with! Many of them don’t even know how beautiful they are and I just love the excitement it brings when they see how truly GORGEOUS the camera sees them. Besides, I was a model in a previous life, I just didn’t get the body in this one, boo hoo… Special thanks to the City of Dothan for allowing me to create these wonderful images for the last FOUR YEARS… WOW, has it been that long since we moved here ???? I’ve been invited to speak with the members of Gulf Coast PPA this evening and tell my story! I’ve made a few mistakes on my journey over the past 22 years. I’m hoping that my experiences may help a few of our UP & COMING artists avoid taking a wrong turn or two. I’m one of the lucky few who made it past all the bumps in the road and managed to build the studio of my dreams, now it’s time for me to help a few others on their journey. I look forward to meeting everyone and promise to keep you all posted on more upcoming speaking events, cause you never know where I may show up!

I’d also like to say CONGRATS to Miss Gabriella Lopez (aka Jr Miss Dothan) for becoming MISS TEEN INTERNATIONAL! I received word yesterday of her win in Chigaco. All I can say is that during our recent photo shoot, she totally blew me away. It’s no wonder she’s living out her dreams as an international beauty queen! Thanks for listening… -Miss Cindi

Wow, what a week! Not only did I have an opportunity to learn from more than one MASTER photographer, but I had ONE ON ONE time with them! Ralph and I spent the past few days in Mobile at our state convention and I have to say a special thanks to a few people that have truly enlightened me! THANK YOU Doug Letson for mentoring me and allowing me to assist you with our states (Mississsippi & Alabama) print competition. Words simply cannot express just how humbling it was to open all of those print cases, work behind the scenes during the competition and be present when the awards were given! Just to be in the room with so many master photographers was an amazing experience, but to be there when the Fuji Masterpiece and Kodak Gallery awards were chosen was more than I could have ever dreamed of… WOW… I’d also like to say a special THANKS to all those wonderful association members who made me feel so WELCOME including Dothan’s own Bob and Judy Haynes! I can’t tell you what it meant to have your blessings and warm handshakes…

I would also like to say THANK YOU to Hanson Fong for spending a few extra moments of his valuable time with me this afternoon. I never had the opportunity to study under Monte Zucker but could easily surmise that you had! I wasn’t surprized when I learned how much you appreciated his love of the light… I am truly honored to be able to say that I learned more than a few valuable tips from one of our modern day masters! I can only dare to dream that perhaps one day I may become the artist and teacher that you are…

I sit in my hotel room this evening instead of attending our awards banquet. I am elated yet drained and after only a couple phone calls from home, found myself off my feet and enjoying my own moment in the spotlight of the beautiful sunset that encompassed our hotel room. Ralph and I are headed off to Mobile where we’ll be getting a bit of R&R and hanging out with a few fellow photographers! We’ve been looking forward to this trip for months because Mobile is one of my favorites cities! The studio will be closed tomorrow, but, will be open next week Tues-Friday from 10am til 5pm. So, if you need to place an order or pick one up, the studio will be open!

I can’t tell you how disappointed I was this morning to find yet another “up and coming” photographer who has decided to go PRO get off on the worst imaginable foot with their fellow artists. First of all I found they had literally COPY & PASTED information from my pricing web page only they chose to UNDERCUT all of my pricing! They also blatantly offered to undercut any other local photographer’s pricing! I wasn’t concerned about the lower pricing because I know the average consumer can easily tell the difference in a true professional and an “aspiring” photographer’s work. I was upset that they apparently had no ORIGINAL ideas of their own because after doing a few google searches found that my website was not the only one that had been COPIED!

The MOST disturbing part of my discovery was when I found that this person claims to have a DEGREE in photography from an institution that does NOT offer them! If this person will STEAL content from other artist’s websites and claim they have credentials that they DO NOT, then can you really trust anything they say or do? Let’s get it together people and STOP trying to FOOL the general public! They aren’t as gullable as you think they are 🙂

I called this person directly and asked them to remove the content that was STOLEN from my website. I was assured that it would be taken care of. Thanks for listening…. -Miss Cindi

I had the pleasure of working with Rachel and Jeffery this morning and we decided to do something a bit different. I wasn’t above begging a friend if we could invade his space over at the DEPOT! Luckily I didn’t have to beg because David Parker is such a nice guy! Am I a suck up or what!!! WOW, what some TERRIFIC images we got! I can hardly wait until the wedding in October 🙂 ENJOY!!!! -Miss Cindi

This Tuesday night, July 15th at 7pm, the new Babies ‘R US in Dothan will be sponsoring a one-hour free healthy pregnancy class. The class focuses on how to stay healthy and low risk, teaches some basic exercises essential for the childbearing year, and provides specific information on nutrition for a helathy mother and baby. It will also cover how to stay comfortable during pregnancy, how to choose a childbirth class, and relaxation techniques.
